This site is dedicated to those coping with mental illness/conditions/disorders. Our mission is to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and create bridges of understanding between survivors and family, friends and the mental health care community. To achieve this mission, we are compiling a book of research + personal experiences. Your personal account should address the following: “Please describe your personal experience living with [your diagnosis].”
Submission can be any length up to 500 words.
Your personal account can be anything -- a story, personal essay, poem, narrative, whatever you've been going through lately – anything you’d like the world to know. Even a few sentences is fine.
Please tell us your diagnosis. If you have multiple diagnoses, you can mention this in your submission. We will try to find the most suitable placement for your work.
You may remain anonymous. You can provide an alias, or leave out identifying information.

You may submit an electronic version of your art via email, or originals or copies of your art through regular mail.
The artwork can be any style – realist, impressionist, abstract, folk art, literally anything – done in any medium – that conveys something about your life experiences with your diagnosis of mental disorder/condition.
You may remain anonymous. You can provide an alias, or leave out identifying information.
You may include a few words with your artwork if you'd like - please do let us know your diagnosis/what issues you are coping with/what this piece represents to you so we can best categorize your art.

CONSENT AGREEMENT

By submitting your work, Author/Artist acknowledges that he/she has read and understands the following Agreement. Author/Artist hereby grants and assigns to J L Smith the right to reproduce, publish, distribute, transmit, make available or otherwise communicate to the public, publicly perform, archive, store, lease or lend and sell the Contribution or parts thereof, including in abridged form, individually or together with other works in any language, in all revisions and versions (including soft cover, collected editions, anthologies, advance printing, reprints or print to order), in all forms and media of expression including in electronic form (including offline and online use), in whole, in part or in summarized form.
Author/Artist forgoes financial compensation for the work. Author/Artist warrants that he/she is the original creator of the work. Author/Artist is still the sole copyright owner of the work, and retains all rights to the work except for those expressly granted to J L Smith in this Agreement.
To the extent a separate copyright attaches to the Anthology as a collective work, J L Smith is the copyright owner of any such copyright on the Anthology as a collective work. If the publisher registers copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office, that registration will cover the collective work only, and will acknowledge the author(s) as the copyright owner(s) of the contributed works (if desired). Author/Artist retains the right to remain anonymous.
